Women's health

Women's health topics often carry stigma and shame, leaving individuals feeling uncomfortable opening up about important issues. Often symptoms which can be improved remain undiagnosed for years, which can wreak havoc, leaving many feeling helpless and alone.

When women are healthy and empowered, they can unleash their full potential, creating a ripple effect that strengthens families, communities and societies.

let's change the
conversation

prenatal mot

Whilst all mums undergo the normal changes associated with pregnancy; such as an increase in weight, a change in posture and centre of gravity, the stretching of abdominal muscles, a relaxation of ligaments supporting the joints, your own experience will be individual.

For some mums, symptoms such as back pain or pelvic girdle pain will mean that they require some advice or treatment to help them to have a more positive and pain-free pregnancy as well as a positive post-natal experience.

The good news is that with early support and specialist management these symptoms are treatable and recovery can be very much supported.

The Prenatal MOT is a specially designed women’s health assessment for those going through pregnancy, from your 12 week scan onwards, for all your pregnancy needs including Pelvic Girdle Pain, Pelvic Floor support, and Lower Back pain.

POSTNATAL mot

After having a baby, half of all women have a weakness in either their tummy or pelvic floor area – over a third suffer with chronic pelvic pain.

This creates instability and poor core strength and results in altered transfer load, back pain, pelvic pain, bladder and bowel weakness.

The Postnatal MOT helps women avoid these distressing and often embarrassing symptoms.

An assessment of the tummy gap and pelvic floor will enable the creation of a bespoke post-natal recovery programme plan devised especially for the woman, her lifestyle and fitness goals, including specific and safe post-natal exercises to regain stability and optimum function.

Postnatal MOT

pre/postnatal musculoskeletal

Many changes occur to the female body during pregnancy and beyond.

Structures are placed under a new level of load with the added influence of hormonal shifts and a growing baby, alongside the demands of day to day life.

This can alter posture, balance and the strength of the pelvic floor.

These changes can also attribute to symptoms such as back pain, neck pain, pelvic girdle pain and wrist pain.

This service provides assessment of pregnancy/ postnatal aches and pains, postnatal diastasis recti (abdominal separation) and core recovery, providing education and guidance for safe exercise, enabling you to return to the activities you love!

Pre & Postnatal Physiotherapy

menopause

The changes experienced during the menopause can have a significant impact on wellbeing and quality of life, making it important to recognise and address the symptoms.

An evaluation will typically involve discussing specific symptoms, evaluating pelvic floor health and general mobility and posture, as well as discussing hormone management, sleep quality, hydration, and nutrition.

Based on the evaluation, a specific treatment program will be devised to help maintain the body in peak condition.

General exercise and targeted exercises can help to restore strength all over the body helping to improve wellbeing.

Women's Health & Menopause

pelvic health

Pelvic floor therapy is treatment for problems related to the pelvic floor.

But, pelvic floor therapy is more than just simple exercises. The nature of the pelvic floor necessitates a holistic approach- as these core muscles support everything from intimacy to your posture sitting in a chair! They are also impacted by everything from your stress level to your breathing.

Pelvic health screening is perfect for all women- even if you are not experiencing any pelvic floor dysfunction (incontience, prolapse, pain) but are keen to know that you are doing those pelvic floor exercises correctly.

We provide internal or external pelvic floor assessment and personalised pelvic floor training programme.
